Raw TCP transport for Syslog

[back] [Raw Mail Archive]

Intro

There is currently no discussion on syslog via a raw tcp transport. There was in the past and this issue is always lurking. I am trying to put all pointers together on this page - just in case I will need them sometime.

Please note that there actually is a standardised format for TCP syslog. This has been specified in RFC 3195.

The following are some discussion threads that address - in one way or another - the need for a simple, TCP based syslog protocol. I don't say we need one, I just would like to keep the pointers handy when the discussion re-iterates (which it normally does ;)).
